In 2010, a small group of families began discussing the possibility of developing a classical, Christian school that would allow for quality family time, quality education, and quality discipleship for their children. Our shared vision included classical methods, a Christian worldview, and collaboration with passionate teachers. These common desires motivated us to prayerfully consider how to make this dream a reality.
Since then much prayer and research have gone into creating Gloria Deo Academy. The Lord has provided blessing upon blessing, answering prayers with delightful alacrity and providing faith-building encouragement along the way. One example is our partnership with the Riverside Community, a local Christian congregation. Riverside has agreed to share their facility with us, stretching our tuition dollars so that we can hire qualified teachers. Walking humbly and trusting God for wisdom, we have worked together to keep our focus on Him and His will for this school.
The primary goal of this endeavor is to do our best to create an educational environment that will bless our students, their families, and our community. A university-style schedule will allow families to take advantage of professional instruction two days a week and still share precious time together at home. High school students will receive a third day of instruction in order to fulfill diploma requirements. Younger students may choose to take advantage of electives on an optional third day.
In Fall 2012, Gloria Deo Academy launched and is offering grades 2-9, adding grades each year as the Lord provides. Friday electives will focus on fine arts, expanding as the program grows. Because of strong community interest and our desire to encourage heart, mind, and strength, we plan to offer athletics as soon as possible.
Our children are a precious gift from the Lord, and our responsibility to teach them the way they should go is of paramount importance. As we follow the leading of the Spirit, we pray that the Lord will continue to bless this awesome undertaking for His glory.
